Cambridge Trust International Scholarships at University of Cambridge is currently open. Cambridge international is accessible to graduate scholars to go for PhD degrees at University of Cambridge UK. The Cambridge Commonwealth, European & International Trust was established on 1 August 2013 from the merger of the Cambridge Commonwealth Trust and the Cambridge Overseas Trust. These were created as charities by the University of Cambridge in the year 1980s in order to provide monetary support for foreign scholars on degree courses at Cambridge.

The Trust awards about 500 scholarships yearly, and assist within 1,100 and 1,400 students in residence yearly from 85 nations across the globe.  During its history of over 30 years of offering scholarships at the University of Cambridge, the Trust has awarded a tot today, the Trust provides the largest number of scholarships for foreign scholars at Cambridge, at work with partners globally to help scholars of exceptional academic merit under a range of scholarship schemes.

Awards, which comprise both full-expenses and partial-expenses scholarships, are offered to selected scholars at PhD, Masters and undergraduate level, in all fields and at all 31 Colleges of the University of Cambridge. The Trust has thirteen associates of staff, overhead by a Director, and is governed by a board of Trustees. His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales is the Trust’s Patron.

Fields of Study: Courses offered at the university

The University of Cambridge will provide, through the Cambridge Trusts, about 250 Cambridge International Scholarships to Abroad Students who go on a research course in the next academic year. The awards will be made on a competitive basis to those applicants considered by their departments to be the most outstanding.

Eligibility for Cambridge Trust International Scholarships at University of Cambridge

To be qualified to get a Cambridge International Scholarship, students must:

  • be responsible to pay the Overseas University Composition Fee (i.e. be evaluated as ‘Overseas’ for Fee Status purposes).
  • be engaged in a three year research program leading to the PhD (i.e. will be registered as PhD, “Probationary PhD” or “CPGS”) starting in the next academicals year.
  • be engaged in full-time study.
  • hold a high upper-second-class undergraduate honors degree from a UK Higher Education Institution, or an equivalent from an Overseas Institution.

NB: all scholars applying for a program of one year period or less (including LLM, MSt, MBA, MED, Part III Mathematics, MPhil) in the next academic year are not qualified for a CISS award in the following academic year.

Selection Conditions: A Committee generates one ranked list of all PhD applicants across all disciplines.  The factors taken into consideration in this list are academic qualifications, references and research potential.  The financial condition of candidates does not affect the selection of scholarship frontrunner.

University of Cambridge – Duration of Cambridge Trust International Scholarships: The award has a maximum period of 3 years and is accessible to all scholars who will be enrolled for a three year research program, leading to the PhD (including CPGS), that starts in the following academic year.
